What has it been like to work alongside Megan Stalter?
Meg is a dreamboat. So is Jojo T. Gibbs. They’re both such instinctual actors that the 3 of us fell into a rhythm right away, and I think that love between us shows through the performances.
What is your favorite type of comedy to work with?
I love working on comedies that have darkness and bring levity to drama. That duality feels like something I recognize and can understand.

Where do you draw inspiration from?
I like to draw from my own freaky feelings and experiences because being alive is weird, and I guess it makes me feel better to put it out there in a performance. Like, “do you guys feel this too?”
How has working on Jackpot been?
Working on JACKPOT! was an actual dream come true. I learned how to fight with a katana sword and kick people in the face, what’s better than that?

How was working with John Cena, Awkwafina, and Simu Liu?
The cast is a murderer’s row of comedy superstars. We had a great time together!
What was it like to work with Paul Feig?
Paul Feig is one of my heroes. I cried while driving on the 5 when I got the call that I booked the part. He is equal parts comedic genius and dapper gentleman. On set, he was pitching hilarious jokes while dressed like a vogue cowboy. Goddammit, he’s cool.

You’ve had such a busy summer with new projects coming out. Which has your favorite been so far?
It’s impossible to pick a favorite because I’m so proud of all three, and I feel lucky to keep working with talented, genuine people. Each project was exhilarating and expansive for me—3 wildly different roles and creative experiences.
What have you learned from working alongside Molly Shannon and Vanessa Bayer?
Molly Shannon taught me the value of honesty in comedy and integrating your darkness into a role. Vanessa Bayer is a brilliant improviser and an incredible leader. I loved her approach to running a set. She’s warm and magnetic. But also, they treasure their friendships and families and live happy lives outside of work. They get it. they really get it. I love them both.

What projects do you have coming up?
At the moment, I’m editing a documentary I directed about my childhood band x-cetra. We made an album in the year 2000 when we were kids, and somehow got discovered online in 2020. Now we’re signed with a record label called Numero Group and have a vinyl album coming out in January 2025. It’s been insane, I swear you can’t write this stuff!
