S.H. How do you practice self-care, mentally and physically?
L.H. I love this question because self-care, self-soothing, and maintaining a balanced sense of mental health is the phase of life I’m in. I’ve learned that I need equal parts connection with others and embracing solitude to recalibrate. Having a slow and intentional morning is super important to me–no matter where I’m at, or what I have to tackle that day. That includes meditation, intuitive eating, exercise, soaking up nature, mindfulness, journaling, and tons of time with my dogs.

L.H. The number one thing I’ve done for myself recently is becoming super intentional about who and what I give my time and energy to. I’ve set boundaries for the first time in my life, and it’s been uncomfortable, but easily one of the most empowering ways to live authentically. I’m at a point of curating my life in a way that lifts me up and helps me feel aligned.

S.H. I’ve read that you’re interested in astrology, your rising sign is Leo. Being that rising signs reflect how you present yourself, do you see any Fire Sign qualities in your fashion sense?
L.H. I do believe I give off “Leo-Energy” when it comes to how people might view me, or first impressions. I feel like Leos are high-spirited, creative, and like to have a “moment.” That definitely applies to my love of fashion. I’ve always loved to express myself through outfits and aesthetics; it’s a true form of expression for me.

L.H. Cooking! I can do the basics, but to be a truly skilled chef and a true palette for flavors would be amazing.

S.H. What is the best live performance–music, or otherwise–that you’ve attended this year, and why?
L.H. I saw Sweeney Todd on Broadway a few days ago. Home run across the board! Amazing, nuanced performances, humor, Josh Groban vocals…

S.H. What are three skincare products that you can’t go without?
L.H. 1) Eyepatches: I pop them in the fridge, wear them on planes, under sunglasses–they instantly make me feel like I have a grip on myself. 2) Enzyme cleanser: [It] gently exfoliates and great for a double cleanse–[they] really clean out my pores without stripping my natural oils. 3) Lip balm: Sunday Riley makes a great one that smells like cake, and a go-to is Lucas Papaw ointment.
S.H. As a self-proclaimed “Crazy-Dog-Lady,” what role have pets played in your life? I wear this title proudly!
L.H. My dogs are my family, my emotional support, and two of my best friends. They have taught me patience, unconditional love for myself, and keep me super present; life is just better with dogs!

L.H. They already have broken through, but I’m obsessed with Khaite and Staud at the moment.

S.H. How do you use jewelry to amplify your looks?
L.H. Jewelry is super personal to everyone. For me, jewelry tells a story: it’s like adding the icing to the cake! I usually wear a lot of the same pieces day to day, but they each hold big meaning to me. I will change up my “ear-story,” though. I have a ton of piercings, so every month or so, I switch those up and tell a new story.
