Reaching October we transition into the autumn and we finally begin the shift towards the energies of 2021. With the Sun being in Libra for most of the month, balance and relationships to others and ourselves become a prominent theme in our lives. This month, we are invited to see the union behind everything, even in our highly polarized reality – realizing that equanimity and diplomatic collaboration is the most effective way to move forward.
When the month begins with a Full Moon, we can expect it to be a very powerful one. This lunation is a particularly intense one in Aries, with tough aspects to Saturn in Capricorn. We feel a deep need to take action, while facing various limitations within our path. How have you restructured your life in the past months according to your dreams? This is our call to redirect our goals towards something we passionately believe in and that brings us authentic joy.
Mars continues to dampen our sense of motivation as he continues his journey through the second half of his retrograde. Although the planet of Action is moving very slowly, he makes important connections throughout the month. It is important to remember that Mars retrograde is an initiation of the highest order, pushing us to connect with our deeper sense of Self instead of acting upon impulses and old patterns of behavior. On the 3rd, Mars conjuncts Eris, the Goddess of Discord, igniting chaotic but necessary changes. We have an odd sense of everything growing stranger by the moment – and our job is to opt out from acting from a place of fear.
Pluto, famously known as the Great Rebirther, has been retrograde for the last five months – enticing a retrospective journey within us that examined the relationship between our own personal and the divine will. He finally stations to go direct on the 4th, and we can begin applying our lessons from the past months regarding power. This is an impactful forward moving motion, making us detach from any past abuse from power while embracing the power within ourselves and from our connection to All.
We reach a climax of intensity on the 9th, as Mars forms a mighty stepping stone with Pluto. Traditionally, this aspect would signify a power struggle, plain and simple – but in multidimensional astrology it presents itself as an opportunity to insightfully act upon the highest good and reach for new levels of awareness. During these days we feel a deep desire to gain power and control of others, and it is only normal to expect smiting from unrequited authority. We must be mindful of which course of action we choose to take during these days. Our actions during this time will manifest by the end of the year again when Mars goes back to revisit these points.
As if it wasn’t enough intensity already, we get ready to welcome the final Mercury retrograde of the year in the sign of Scorpio. Our mind’s relentlessness is paused and we have a chance to receive much-needed emotional clarity. Mercury’s upcoming retrograde journey is a special one this month as it forms powerful bridges with Uranus in Taurus – dissolving old ways of thinking. Pay attention to the revelations you receive during this electrifying time!
Perhaps the most important New Moon of the year takes place on the 16th in no other than Libra, delivering us to exciting new beginnings. The New Moon on this day is not only conjunct with the Sun, but also with fixed-star Arcturus. This lunation is saturated with divine feminine energy, and we realize how our need to protect gives us the drive and courage to fight against so many injustices. The patriarchy is reaching its final days, and we rise to the opportunities to take right action from abuses of power.
The Sun ingresses Scorpio on the 22nd, where the presence of the new world comes into our view and our swirling minds gain a sense of peace.
We have an extremely rare 2nd Full Moon in Taurus right on Halloween Day, in which the Moon forms a bridge to the Sun in Scorpio while conjoining Taurus. Bridges represent when any planet are exactly opposite to each other, revealing a new sense of unity in which at surface level seems to be contradictory. The Moon is said to be in its exaltation when Taurus, meaning its powers are pleasant and enhanced. This is an ideal day to connect with our inner compass and let ourselves be led by our intuition without any attachment for a desired conclusion.
October is definitely one of the key months of the year, when we gain much needed self-awareness and clarity of how to move forward with our lives and also as a collective. The month pushes us to bring back balance and a sense of equanimity in every moment, allowing us to transmute any fears and old-habits that we cannot possibly carry forward. The Age of Aquarius is on the horizon, and we are All finally reaching important milestones in our evolutionary path.
